Believe it or not, Christmas is right around the corner. I always like to get a head-start on my Christmas shopping so I can avoid buying things simply because I’m running out of time and need something quick. I want my gifts to be meaningful and unique, you know? I especially need to plan ahead when I’m trying to find something for someone who’s interest and hobbies I don’t quite understand….like that of an outdoorsy guy.
My oldest son (20) is an avid outdoorsman, loving all things hunting and fishing. And honestly, shopping for him over the years has proven quite difficult at times. I know nothing about his hobbies, so I often feel like I’m shooting in the dark. Ha, no pun intended.
I figured I’d share a few gift ideas I’ve had over the years that have proven to be a win (and one I’m going with this year). You know, in case there’s anyone else out there who’s stumped year after year trying to figure out what to get the guy in their life who loves all things outdoors.

1. Personalized Ammo Box
If your guy has firearms, whether for hunting, home safety, or recreational use, getting him a personalized ammo box to keep his ammunition in is a really fun way to personalize something practical. Something like this on Etsy allows you to personalize in a variety of ways. I bought one for my son last year for Christmas, and it was a big hit.
2. Personalized Photo Book (to display all those fish pictures!)
Another Etsy find, and one that I haven’t gifted yet but will be this Christmas, is something like this personalized leather photo album. If you have a guy in your life who loves to hunt and fish, then you’re well-aware that there is almost always a picture taken with the “trophy”. So, why not get all of those pictures off the phone and printed into an album! I’m so excited to gift this one this year.
3. Fishing Lure Subscription
If you don’t know what kind of fishing lures to buy the man in your life, then getting a “mystery” tackle box subscription is a winner. This is a fun gift that keeps giving even after the holiday season. With a variety of boxes to choose from, and the ability to tailor how many months you want the subscription for, this is a great way to take the pressure off of you, the non-fishing expert, to gift gear you know nothing about. I gave one of these boxes to my son for Christmas one year, and he really enjoyed it, as it came with lures he hadn’t tried yet. And he is one of those hard-core fishermen who has quite the array of gear, so that’s saying something. This didn’t disappoint.
4. Stanley Thermos
Believe it or not, before Stanley’s became ultra popular as giant water bottles that girls carry around, they were a staple for men who needed to take their coffee on the road. This thermos here is a classic. I even remember my dad having one when I was a kid. These are great for taking coffee out on the boat early in the morning, sitting in a deer stand, or any other time your guy just wants to get outdoors…but also enjoy his coffee. If you really want to level up, then get a wide-mouth thermos, and make him a batch of chili. You’ll be the hero of the day.
5. Car Seat Cover
Any sort of outdoorsy activity comes with its share of dirt, grime, and who knows what else. If the guy in your life loves to get out there and get dirty, but simultaneously loves to keep his vehicle clean, then getting something like this cart seat cover will be a great purchase. I’m a Duluthian, so I’m for sure going to promote this one here from Duluth Trading Company. It has a nice rugged look to it.
